“Be Positive and Smile With Life”-Bijouterie Christine Dior Jewelry
For 33 years, Bijouterie Christine Dior Jewelry has been a fixture in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. Owner Christine believes in creating a family environment among employees and clients and treating everyone with consideration and respect. Known for her positive attitude, Christine says, “You must always be positive and smile with life. If you are positive and see a challenge, nothing can stop you.”
Christine believes in surrounding herself with special people. “From my deceased husband, to my brother, mother and staff, you need “pillars”, after all, a hand does not clap by itself. You need people who believe in you.”
This caring and dynamic entrepreneur has a passion for her business and loves to serve clients with patience, a smile and understanding. “Everyone is made to feel special. Everyone is equal.” She had early ambitions of going in nursing but her life took another direction. However, her kind and caring nature serve her well at Bijouterie Christine Dior and she says, “I often get to take care of people just like a nurse so in many ways, I have fulfilled my dream!”
She is also proactive by promoting her business through expositions and various channels. “I did expos in Beresford and Charlo and received a lot of business. I am even starting to promote on the Internet! I believe in making an effort and that for the effort you put into your company, it will be returned.”
With a motto of “treating others like you would like to be treated”, it is not surprising that many of Christine’s employees have been with her for a long time. She has three full-time staff and also some part-time workers.
“Women in Business” has been a part of Christine’s journey. She accessed consulting services as well as participated in training. She also is an advocate for women in business and believes in the importance of “sticking together to dispel the many myths that exist.”
If she could give advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, “Be strong. There are difficult times, and sometimes really hard times in business. You must believe in yourself first and foremost and take every trial as a learning opportunity.”
Christine was the recipient of the 2010 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Restigouche. “I was overwhelmed and surprised. Sometimes you never realize you deserve an award until someone gives it to you.
When asked about the “next steps”, she says, “This is a hard question! I would like to continue to operate my shop and offer beautiful and exclusive items. Also, to always be one step ahead of the game.”

“I find the Women in Business Initiative like a breath of fresh air. The ladies seem very comfortable with a gathering of their peers and perhaps more willing to speak up on issues of interest or concern to them. The guest speakers and discussion topics we choose for our meetings are of interest to the majority of the women. I wish there had been a group like this years ago. I am grateful to you and CBDC for all the help you’ve given our group in its founding and continued growth.”
