Beverly's Esthetic Studio Will Lift Your Spirits in Hampton, NB

If you are seeking an oasis, a tranquil environment where total body care is the key to beauty, visit Beverly’s Esthetic Studio in Hampton, New Brunswick. Owner and operator Beverly Campbell and her team of professionals have the mission: “We’ll lift your spirits.” With a mission like that, clients are ensured a personalized and memorable experience.

Beverly’s adventure of becoming a business owner has been remarkable to say the least. According to this savvy entrepreneur, “I was on the Board of Directors for the CIBC Run for the Cure for four years in Fredericton, I was involved in fundraising and volunteering for Breast Cancer research.  Timing is everything, when the company I was working for started to downsize, I knew it wouldn’t be long and my position would be eliminated.  It was then I knew I wanted to change my career, go back to school to become an Esthetician, open my own business and pamper women and help lift their spirits.”

This began Beverly’s exciting journey and she has not looked back ever since.

Beverly grew up in Hampton, NB where she graduated from the Business program at Kennebecasis Valley High School in 1982. With her dream of being a business owner, in 2002, at the age of 37, she graduated from Majestany Institute in Fredericton from their Esthetic program. Already having a background in sales and marketing, she simply needed the technical training to fulfill her dream.

“In my high school year book it was noted that I always wanted to own my own business –it’s taken me a few years to get there!”

The environment of her business is very calming and relaxing, with the focus on making each visit, an experience.  There is a lovely gift boutique, followed by two very relaxing treatment rooms. 

“I have an assistant that works during the business week, she keeps me on track. Makes appointments, schedules services, greets clients, manages my gift shop.  She also assists in setting up the treatment rooms so clients rarely wait for their treatment.”

Beverly’s business name chosen carefully.  “It was a very big career change for me and it was important from day one that all services from the Studio be done with special attention to detail and consistency.”

When asked about the most rewarding aspects of being an entrepreneur, Beverly adds, “It is the relationships that you build from day one with your clients and your business associates.  Another   rewarding aspect is the Mentoring program that has evolved over the past 4 years!  Usually twice a year we hire a part-time Esthetician (recently graduated) and mentor them for a few months until they find full-time work.”

Regarding the most challenging aspect of being an entrepreneur, “For me it’s keeping your business fresh, inviting and new!  Thankfully, I  thrive on change, so my clients are usually pleasantly surprised every few weeks with something new added, it could be a new service, product or a new tea for them to try!”

Beverly’s passion and the relationships developed with clients, sets her apart from competitors.  This entrepreneur thinks about the big picture all the time, not the short-term.  Coupled with that, her advanced courses in foot care that she has taken to became a Certified Podologist.  Furthermore, she has also advanced into medical facials.  Twice yearly training is done with the physician that developed an active ingredient skincare line for women, whose needs are specific to hyperpigmentation, rosacea, adult acne and anti-aging.  They are in their second year of offering Glycolic Facial Peels. 

 “Being a results-orientated person works for me and my clients!”

As for role models she attributes her parents who were both very hard workers. In addition, she learned work ethic from them.  One of her best bosses was Karen Ross, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, of InStore Focus, a sales and marketing company based out of Toronto. “Karen was an excellent business leader, she had integrity, conviction, empathy and a great sense of humour.”

The best advice Beverly ever received was from Gary Buckland, with Tip Top Tailors. He taught her to “Never judge a person by what they wear, follow your dreams and stay away from negative people.”

To aspiring young entrepreneurs, she would say to believe in yourself with no doubts, stay focused, be passionate, make a few mistakes, learn from them and be patient.

 Beverly credits the CBDC, as an invaluable tool that she continues to use to this day. “ I had wonderful support from the NB Association of CBDCs a year after I opened my business.  Pat Pelley met with me and helped me learn an Accounting program for the computer. Before then, my bookkeeping was still done in ledgers, it was very tiring and not one of my strengths.”

Furthermore, “Most recently, I received assistance from the NB Association of CBDCs and Danielle Sullivan, development officer has been a great asset.  I worked with a Graphic Artist and learned how to create my own webpage. Having my own webpage enabled me to make any changes as frequently as I need to.  I have watched my business grow with this new tool for business.”

Her most memorable quote is as follows:  “Feel the fear and do it anyway!”

Beverly’s business won the Small Business Award  a  few years ago in Hampton. “It meant a lot to be recognized by fellow business in the area. We’ve participated annually in the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign for the Women’s Health Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital. We received a lovely award last year.  Currently, I am President of the Hampton Area Chamber of  Commerce, we have several new initiatives that we are really excited about.”

“Continue to hone your craft, treat your clients like your favorite relative and become involved with your community.  Because of this my business continues to grow and thrive, as do I!” With a philosophy like this and a mission statement “We’ll Lift Your Spirits” there is no doubt that an experience at Beverly’s Esthetic Studio will be rewarding.
