Living and Breathing Natural Living

April MacKinnon, owner and founder of Anointment Natural Skin Care Inc. began building her company's reputation for high-quality handmade soap and skin ointments at the Halifax Farmers' Market (Halifax, Nova Scotia) in 2002. In 2009, Anointment refocused its mission to serve the wholesale market and relocated to April's hometown of Sackville, New Brunswick in 2011. This exceptional entrepreneur is a former civil engineer, DONA-trained postpartum doula, and busy mother of three.

With a particular focus on pregnancy, postpartum and new mom & baby care, Anointment uses traditional herbal knowledge combined with scientific research to formulate products that are gentle and effective. Anointment uses high quality certified organic ingredients. In fact, they grow many of their own herbs, contract local organic farmers, and research each product extensively.

Anointment currently has five employees, and its primary customers are independently owned baby and children's boutiques, lifestyle shops and health food stores across Canada and the United States.

April's long term vision includes providing flexible, stable employment (particularly for women) where her employees are compensated fairly with living wages and receive other wellness benefits including her own organic gardens, a bright, beautiful, efficient work space and a family oriented work culture.
